We are at Kang ... 'maak my bang', Brothers and Sisters.  This place is HOT !!!!! F... flippen steaming - 38 degrees on the bike.  Started riding at sparrows and have been siesta'ing since 10h30.  Pub only opens at 14h00.  All going according to plan.

We are in Gobabis.  Started the ride at 05h00 and with a temp of 24 degrees.  It is now 44.

Botswana:  Trans Kalahari is a well kept road, better than ours - boring and straight.  Many trucks, few bakkies, less cars and strange - no bikes.  Green and ready for the winter grazing.  People are friendly and helpful - young and old, but fresh produce and fuel is scarce.  They say it is delivery ...

Namibia:  Where it is happening it is due to the white control?  Early days, will keep you posted.  Trust you are all keeping well.  We are sweating away.

Rest Day in Windhoek.

Saturday

05/12/2009

Currently about 70 km's south of Sesriem.  Will go into the park at 06h00 tomorrow to see the sunrise over the dunes.  Did +/- 400 km's of dirt road today - the sand, loose, small stones and corrigation is rough.  Roads are not what folks tell you they are.  We will not recommend the ride.  Saw Gemsbok, Kudu, Duikers, Klipspringers, Ostrich, Zebra and Springbok just before in and just out of the Gamsberg Pass - a highlight of the trip.  Don't know where/when we will have signal again?  Keep well.

Sunday

Sitting in the desert, having our breakfast pack.  Only the Lord can give nothing such beauty.  The trip here is now worthwhile.  We are fortunate that it is overcast.  We can imagine how hot it can get.  Keep well.

At Luderitz, quite a crummy place.  Did over 400 km's today - good gravel and cool to cold!  Desert scenery is beautiful - miles and miles of nothing.  Going to have a sundowner next to the cold Atlantic now.  Off to Keetmans tomorrow.  From now on it is tar - boring ...

Tuesday

08/12/2009

At Keetmanshoop - tar road:  311 km's, 3 hours.  First 130 km's to Aus in sea mist, but then ... wind and heat!  Saw Karakul for the first time, miles of nothing and dry Fish River???  Staying at the first and oldest German Club in Namibia and RSA - the Schutzenhaus.  As seen on this trip thus far - Deutsche service ober als.  More is on weer terug by ons mense, sien uit daarna.

Wednesday

In Springbok, RSA - cold, bitterly cold.

Thursday

10/12/2009

  • This morning from Springbok the road to Garies is a bikers road - sweeps to enjoy, corners for skill and straights for shoot-outs.  Beautiful between the rocky koppies.  Trucking is big on our roads ...
  • Klawer to Clanwilliam is beautiful - river valley farming.
  • Clanwilliam to Ceres is windy/windy great riding road, with real mountains.
  • Ceres to Porterville has a wider road, magic pass with twists and turns.
  • From there to Tulbagh, where we are now - Boland.  We will be back ... as a team ???
  • Tomorrow all good roads will lead to Hermanus.
